What Are Dental Veneers?
Dental veneers, often referred to as porcelain veneers, are a transformative solution designed to create a natural-looking, flawless smile using your existing teeth as a foundation. These veneers address a range of dental concerns quickly and effectively, often in far less time than traditional treatments like orthodontics or surgery. Beyond enhancing appearance, porcelain veneers also contribute to better oral health.
Crafted from durable porcelain, veneers are thin, tooth-shaped coverings bonded to the front surface of teeth to improve their aesthetics. Each veneer is meticulously customized from a precise mold of the patient’s teeth, blending artistry and science for impeccable results.
Our team, led by Dr. Marc Lazare and Dr. Terese Fay, takes a highly personalized approach to smile design. By carefully enhancing the shape, shade, and alignment of your teeth while preserving healthy tooth structure, we create veneers that look and feel remarkably natural—designed to complement your features and function beautifully.
Am I a Candidate for Veneers?
Porcelain veneers can be an excellent solution for patients looking to enhance their smile, but a thorough evaluation is essential before moving forward. This ensures the treatment aligns with your dental health, aesthetic goals, and long-term care needs.
Dr. Lazare or Dr. Fay will complete a full diagnostic workup, including digital X-rays, photographs, bite registration, facebow records, and precise impressions of your teeth. Cosmetic imaging may also be used to help visualize potential outcomes.
A custom diagnostic wax-up is then created to explore how veneers can improve your smile and assess whether your goals can be achieved with minimal modification to your natural tooth structure. This process allows for precise planning while prioritizing long-term strength, function, and preservation.
Porcelain Dental Veneers: Before and After Gallery
After your initial evaluation, a separate appointment will be scheduled to begin the preparation process. Temporary veneers may be placed at that time to preview the proposed changes. These customized temporaries give you the opportunity to experience the look and feel of your new smile before the final veneers are crafted. You’ll also have the opportunity to provide feedback, ensuring the final result aligns with your goals.
In cases where minimal tooth preparation is needed, temporary veneers may not be necessary. Once the final veneers are complete, typically within a few weeks, they are carefully bonded, polished, and adjusted for a seamless, natural look.
Smile Concerns Porcelain Veneers Can Correct
Porcelain veneers can correct a variety of cosmetic concerns that impact the symmetry and appearance of your smile.
• Discoloration caused by root canal treatment, excessive fluoride, large fillings, or certain medications
• Irregularly shaped or uneven teeth
• Gaps or spaces between teeth
• Worn or eroded enamel
• Chipped or broken teeth
• Minor misalignment or crowding

Super comprehensive exam and consultation. Dr. Lazare explained everything thoroughly, walked me through his processes, and outlined various options for treatment. He also spent more time with me in one session than all the other dentists I’ve ever been to have collectively.

Step 1. Surface Preparation
Prior to the final fitting, Dr. Lazare will prepare the surface of the teeth. In some instances, no enamel is removed to prepare for veneers, and in others, minimal preparation or more is needed depending on the position of the tooth within the arch and what is trying to be accomplished. Typically, about one-half millimeter is necessary for the new permanent placements, an amount that will be replaced by the thickness of the veneer.
Step 2. Impressions and Crafting
Step 3: Veneer Placement and Adjustment
Step 4: Final Adjustments and Follow-Up

How long do porcelain veneers last?
With proper care and maintenance, porcelain veneers can last anywhere from 10 to 15 years or even longer. Regular dental check-ups and good oral hygiene practices are essential for prolonging their lifespan.
