Cosmetic Dentist in New York City (NYC)

New York City is one of the most vibrant places in the world. In addition to offering world-famous tourist attractions like the Empire State Building, Central Park, and Rockefeller Center, the city is also home to incredible restaurants, amenities, and world-class health and dental care. The cosmopolitan vibe of NYC is due to the city’s prominence as a must-see destination and its status as the home to thriving, international businesses, A-list celebrities, and well-known artists. With the number of people who can afford to have the best of everything, New York City boasts some of the most top-rated cosmetic dental practices in the world. For a beautiful smile, there’s no better place to be.

New York City is one of the most vibrant places in the world

Dr. Marc Lazare is known as one of the city’s best dentists for everything from general dentistry to complex cosmetic procedures. He’s often called “Dentist to the Stars” due to his high-profile clientele. Celebrities and other prominent New Yorkers trust Dr. Lazare to help them maintain a healthy, beautiful smile, whether they’re on-air or at home. His dental office, which is located conveniently on the Upper East Side near Midtown Manhattan, offers a relaxing experience for patients. Dr. Lazare offers both general and cosmetic dentistry procedures.

General Dentistry

Services that fall under the category of general dentistry are designed to maintain oral health and tooth functionality. It’s important to visit a dentist at least twice a year for professional cleaning and a checkup. These checkups allow the dentist to spot any concerns that could lead to tooth decay or gum disease.

Sometimes, problems can be detected early and require only a simple fix. When dental issues are ignored and allowed to become severe, however, more invasive procedures may be required. Here are some of the general dentistry services Dr. Marc Lazare’s office provides:

Routine Cleaning & Checkups

Preventative care is the key to reducing common dental issues. Routine professional dental cleanings are important for everyone. Every day, a sticky substance containing bacteria (known as plaque) forms on the teeth. Brushing the teeth daily is sufficient to remove most of the plaque, but it’s not always possible to remove all harmful bacteria, especially at the gumline.

If not removed, plaque hardens into tartar and can cause tooth decay, gum disease, discolored teeth, and other problems. Regular cleanings with a dentist help keep teeth cleaner and get rid of hard-to-reach bacteria. During your teeth cleaning appointments, you will also have a checkup and get x-rays, if needed. Dr. Lazare will examine your teeth and gums and make any recommendations about your oral health based on what he finds.

Even if you take excellent care of your teeth, it is still very important to schedule regular cleanings and checkups. This helps you keep your teeth healthy, beautiful, and strong for life! You’ll also get oral cancer screenings during these appointments, which can be life-saving if signs of cancer are detected early.

Extractions

Sometimes, teeth are beyond saving. If a tooth is severely decayed, broken, or otherwise damaged, it may need to be removed. A tooth that has become decayed or damaged can cause extreme pain and introduce bacteria to the gums, surrounding teeth, and bone. It is important to extract a problematic tooth quickly, to avoid further problems.

Dr. Lazare will only recommend extraction if no other options to save the natural tooth remain. He offers emergency consultations when necessary and will give his opinion on whether or not extraction is the best course of action.

Dental Implants

People lose teeth for all kinds of reasons. In the past, the options for replacing missing teeth were limited and did not provide full functionality. Today, however, NYC dentist Dr. Marc Lazare can offer a permanent solution to patients who are missing one or more teeth. Dental implants are the gold standard for replacing missing teeth as they offer convenience, look completely natural, and offer full functionality.

Dental implants consist of a metal screw that is anchored into the jaw, replacing the original tooth root. A realistic artificial tooth replacement, known as a crown, is then placed on top of the titanium screw. No one should be able to tell the difference between an implant and a natural tooth and patients will care for them in the same way. Brushing, flossing, and twice-yearly cleanings are all that’s needed to maintain dental implants.

Implants can replace a single missing tooth, several missing teeth in a row (using a bridge), or support a full set of dentures. Unlike traditional dentures, implants will help preserve bone in the jaw and provide more chewing power, improving a patient’s quality of life.

Dental Emergencies

Dental emergencies are issues that can’t wait for an appointment next week or even tomorrow. If you have a broken or knocked-out tooth, a severe toothache, a tooth abscess, or another issue, it is important to get help right away. Dr. Lazare’s office takes emergency cases whenever disaster strikes.

When calling about an emergency, it’s important to stay calm and to be as thorough as possible. A knocked-out tooth might be able to be reattached if it is handled by the crown instead of the roots and kept in milk or saliva on the way to the office. It is important to act quickly in case of a dental emergency.

Gum Disease Therapy

In the United States, gum disease (periodontal disease) is extremely common among adults. It is caused by bacteria left on the teeth, causing the gums to become swollen and irritated. Bleeding, puffy, gums are often the first signs of the earliest stage of gum disease, gingivitis. Over time, the gums start to pull away from the teeth, creating “pockets” that allow more bacteria to enter underneath the gum line.

Eventually, gum disease can cause tooth loss and other serious oral and general health problems, like heart disease. Treatment for less advanced forms of gum disease involves deep cleaning the pockets so they can heal. More advanced forms of periodontal disease may require surgery and other therapies.

Root Canals

When decay reaches deep inside the tooth, it can infect the “pulp” (blood vessels and nerves) contained within the tooth root. Abscesses, tooth discoloration, and other issues can occur when the pulp becomes infected. A root canal is performed to remove the infected pulp with a dental drill and replace it with a synthetic material. A crown is then placed over the remaining natural tooth. This preserves the structure of the natural tooth and prevents the need for extraction.

Cosmetic Dentistry

Cosmetic dentistry procedures are performed to enhance a person’s smile and self-esteem. These treatments require an artistic eye and can completely transform the way a person looks. Sometimes, however, oral health needs must be resolved before moving forward with cosmetic procedures. Dr. Lazare is an expert in cosmetic dentistry and offers many different procedures, including:

Porcelain Veneers

Veneers are popular for permanently improving cosmetic tooth issues. Consisting of extremely thin pieces of porcelain, which are bonded to the front of the natural teeth, veneers can enhance the shape, color, and consistency of the teeth. Veneers can improve oral health in addition to improving a patient’s smile.

After veneers, patients will enjoy even, white teeth. This dental treatment is used to address a variety of issues, including gaps, irregular tooth shape, discolored teeth, worn teeth, chipped or broken teeth, and misaligned teeth. It’s an all-in-one cosmetic procedure that’s often more cost-effective than other options.

Whitening

Bright, white teeth are coveted by all, as they project health and beauty. Whiter teeth can improve first impressions, provide confidence, and enhance one’s appearance. Although there are at-home options for teeth whitening, professional treatments are far more effective.

Dr. Marc Lazare uses the Philips Zoom system to whiten teeth by up to 8 shades in his office. This procedure is safe and effective, creating a dramatic improvement in a short amount of time. For faster, better results than at-home strips and trays, teeth whitening with a cosmetic dentist is the best option.

Tooth Bonding

Bonding is a cosmetic procedure that can resolve small, but noticeable imperfections in the teeth. Using the same type of resin as for fillings, Dr. Lazare can fill in chips and gaps in the teeth for a more even, consistent appearance.

Tooth bonding can be completed in one office visit and is a conservative treatment method that preserves the natural teeth. It’s perfect for people with minor cosmetic complaints who aren’t ready for porcelain veneers.

Dental Bridges and Crowns

After a root canal, tooth loss, or other major damage to natural tooth structures, a dental bridge or crown might be required to restore a healthy, natural appearance to one’s smile. Dr. Lazare works with dental laboratories to create artificial teeth in the form of crowns (which cap individual teeth) or bridges (which “bridge” the gap between two or more teeth).

Smile Makeover

Some patients have several cosmetic and oral health concerns at once. A smile makeover is a combination of procedures intended to restore and enhance a patient’s smile. This combination procedure is completely customized and designed to help patients look and feel their best.
