Question: How can you lower your risk for oral cancer?
Answer: Most oral cancer is preventable. Approximately 75% of oral cancers are related to the use of tobacco and alcohol. If you are among those using both, your risk becomes much greater than if you were using each substance alone. In order to decrease your risk you should avoid the use of any tobacco products (including cigarettes, chew, pipes, cigars, and snuff), minimize the amount of alcohol that you take in, use an SPF lip balm to protect from sun exposure, and eat plenty of fruits and vegetables.
